NICE & Osteopathic Treatment of Lower Back & Sciatic Pain.

Updated: Jan 1

The National Institute of Care and health Excellence, NICE, the public body which publishes advice and guidance to improve the care patients receive continues to advise the use of manual therapy in the treatment of lumbar pain and sciatica.

Originally issued in 2016, the recommendations from NICE have recently been updated and whilst some treatments have been removed from the approved list of recommended treatment approaches, Osteopathy as therapy for lumbar and sciatic pain continues to receive the support from this highly respected body.

NICE takes an evidence based approach to the guidance it offers, removing unproven treatments from it's list. Patients can therefore take confidence in the effectiveness of our treatment on the basis of this continued support for our work and we look forward to developing an increasing evidence base as a profession over time
